The short answer
Manora is a peninsula at the mouth of Karachi Harbour, reached in 15 to 20 minutes by shared launch from Keamari or in 30 to 45 minutes by road across Sandspit. As of October 2026, travel guides put the launch at PKR 100 to 200 a seat and entry to the beach park at about PKR 50. November to February is the best season, and swimming is risky because of steep drop-offs and rip currents.
Where is Manora?
Manora sits at the mouth of Karachi Harbour, across the water from Keamari. Karachi still calls it Manora Island, but silting has since joined it to the mainland through Sandspit, a sand bar about 12 km long, so Manora is now a peninsula you can reach by boat or by road.

The public beach is on the Arabian Sea side of the peninsula, next to the Manora waterfront park. Manora Point Lighthouse, completed in 1889 to guide ships into Karachi Harbour, stands at the south-eastern tip. Parts of the peninsula are closed to visitors, and photography is not allowed near the check-posts.
How to get to Manora by boat from Keamari
The quick way to Manora is a shared wooden launch from the Keamari boat basin. Travel guides updated in 2025 and 2026 put the fare at PKR 100 to 200 a seat each way, and a private speedboat or a whole boat for a group at PKR 2,500 to 4,000. No official fare is published, and visitors’ reviews say fares vary from boat to boat, so agree the price before you step on.
A launch leaves when it is full and takes 15 to 20 minutes to cross; a speedboat takes about seven. From the Manora jetty to the beach park is a 10-minute walk or a short rickshaw ride, which one 2026 guide prices at about PKR 100.
Sources disagree on the last boat back. One 2026 guide says launches run in daylight only, while a 2019 visitor reported boats until 9 pm. Plan to cross back before sunset.
How to get to Manora by road
Manora can also be reached by car across Sandspit. From the old city, take Mauripur Road west, then Sandspit Road past Kakapir, and cross on the Manora Driveway. Guides put the trip at about 25 km and 30 to 45 minutes from the city centre, and a taxi or ride-hailing car at PKR 500 to 800 each way.
Carry your CNIC, and your car papers if you drive, because the road passes a check-post on the way in.
Manora Beach entry fee and timings
Three travel guides list entry to the Manora waterfront park at PKR 50 a person. One guide, last verified in October 2026, lists parking at PKR 100 a car, and another says free and paid parking are both available. A property portal’s guide updated in April 2024 says there is no entry fee at all, so check at the gate.
Google Maps lists Manora Beachfront Park as open from 8 am to 9 pm, Monday to Saturday, and 8 am to 8 pm on Sunday, as of October 2026. The Manora Cantonment Board’s 2026-27 contracts include a toll barrier at the civil jetty and pickups running from the jetty to the park, but no published rates. The park is lit after dark, but if you came by boat, you can only stay as late as the last launch back to Keamari.
What there is to do at Manora
The Manora waterfront project, opened on 30 October 2021 at a cost of PKR 650 million, turned the beachfront into a park. It added about an acre of parking, 29 gazebos, covered shelters, 76 benches and a separate children’s play area. One 2026 guide lists a paved promenade of about 1.5 km, and two guides list public toilets and evening lighting.

The same 2026 guide lists camel and horse rides at PKR 150 to 300 a turn, fried fish at PKR 400 to 700 a plate and prawns at PKR 350 to 600, and says the food stalls take cash only. A 2019 Zameen guide said local boats could be hired on the island for a sunset trip.
Best time to visit Manora Beach
November to February is the best season for Manora, when Karachi is cooler and less humid; summer days can pass 40°C. Guides suggest arriving in the late afternoon to stay for the sunset, and a weekday visit avoids the weekend crowds on the boats and the beach. A 2019 Zameen guide named winter as the best season for fishing at Manora.
Is it safe to swim at Manora?
Swimming at Manora is risky. The seabed drops steeply, and rip currents run near the harbour channel and the breakwater rocks. Drownings at Manora were reported in October 2024, June 2025 and June 2026. On 12 November 2025 a wave swept a medical student into the sea at Manora, and classmates who went in to help also drowned; the university put the deaths at three and police at five.
The Karachi administration bans entering the sea along parts of the coast most summers, usually between May and September when the monsoon raises the waves. In 2026 the order covered Keamari district’s coastal belt from 23 May to 22 June, though it did not list Manora by name. The dates and beaches covered change every year, so check the current notice before you go and keep children out of the water. For emergencies, call Rescue 1122, Police 15 or Edhi 115.
Is there a ferry from Sea View to Manora?
No source from 2024 to 2026 reports a ferry running from Sea View or Clifton to Manora. A Sea View jetty for the service was announced at the waterfront’s opening in October 2021, and a 2026 guide still describes it as planned. The Keamari launches and the road across Sandspit are the two ways to get there.
Places near Manora
Sandspit beach runs along the sand bar that joins Manora to the mainland, and Hawke’s Bay lies further along the same coast. Both are covered in the guide to Karachi beaches, with hut booking and the summer sea bans.
Living near Karachi’s seafront
East of Manora, on the DHA Phase 8 seafront along Abdul Sattar Edhi Avenue, Emaar Oceanfront and HMR Waterfront are the two waterfront communities. Families already live in Emaar Oceanfront’s completed towers, and HMR Waterfront’s first tower is due for handover in June 2027. HMR’s sales team puts the whole coastal belt at 108 acres, with 75 acres developed by Emaar and 33.12 acres by HMR Group.
